The Sankofa Initiative invites you to the January edition of her Arts and Culture Exchange program coming up on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the NuStreams Conference Centre, KM 110, Iyaganku Road, off Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan. Dr. Wale Okediran, winner of the 2012 Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa and author of the new collection of short stories, Keepers of the Tribe and Dumebi Ezar Ehigiator, author of the new novel, Wrecked will be our special guests.
The evening will commence at 3pm with readings and performances as our guests share from their body of creative works. This will be followed by an interactive session centred on the backstories behind their works as well as their knowledge of the creative process with an intent to contribute to the development of young writers and emerging culture practitioners. There will also be a book signing session and books will be available for sale at the book stand.
Curated by the Sankofa Initiative for Culture and Development, Arts and Culture Exchange is a platform for the revival of a vibrant reading culture, the promotion of creative expressions in the arts and deepening civic engagement amongst the nation’s youths. Incorporating the ideals of artistic erudition with the innovations of performance practice and contemporary culture, Arts and Culture Exchange offers an eclectic mix of creative dexterity from leading and emerging culture practitioners and thought leaders in Nigeria. Book readings, poetry performances, music renditions, drama, art exhibitions, panel discussions and workshops are creatively fused together to make each edition a memory to be relished.
